Speeding on Westsyde Road

Westsyde Road – Just past the red store area heading North

Speeding on Westsyde Road is not a new problem but it really needs to stop.

Fifty years ago when I moved to the community there was a bad accident on the Oak Hills corner. It was the result of speeding. Several years later there was another, same cause, but on my street. I’ve seen many since then.

It is different out here now with the elementary school in full attendance and the same with the senior residence. More people and less patience. Enforcement is required.

Passively, street lights would help break up the flow. Not at night though unless they were timed. I would like to see the the main road in front of the schools painted with blue so a driver “knows” they are in a school zone, independently from a small road sign..

This morning walking in front of the school around 10am and a car blows past me around 90km. Way, way, faster than the normal speeders never mind it was in a school zone posted at 30km.

They need large speed hills\ bumps like they do in Europe and Mexico. Cheap fix even with a flashing warning light set-up.
